With the Halloween season in full swing, we thought it would be a fun to do a visual recap of the 5th annual Ghoultide Gathering that took place in Northville, Mi at the beginning of October.

It's impossible to capture all of the excitement and details, but hopefully the images convey how incredible the event was on every level. The Friday night early buy with live music was a highlight for customers and artists alike, and the Saturday outpouring of shoppers was truly amazing.

Last but not least, we have Laurie & Frank Bosi joining Ghoultide Gathering as new artists. The Bosi's are coming from Ohio and carting a ghoulish selection of haunted garden features to tempt you.

Mary Calehuff and her engaging papier-mache nodders are joining us from Pennsylvania. Mary's work has a primitive and whimsical style that will leave you smiling and nodding with approval.

Joyce Stahl of Enchanted Productions is another new artist joining us from Ohio. Her "Enchanted Little Ones" will charm you with their wide eyes, distinctive stitching and fanciful costuming. Joyce's elaborate display is sure to catch your eye among the tents in the new artists' area on the village grounds.

Kevin Haney of Reddog's Pottery will be joining us from Ohio and bringing even more new faces for us to meet... in the form of face jugs! You might not think of traditional face jugs when you first think Halloween, but one look at Kevin's pieces and you'll see they would fit in with just about any Halloween theme.

New Ghouls for 2011

Our show continues to grow each year. With spaces at a premium in Mill Race Village, we're creating an area on the village grounds for five new artists to set up tents. Each of these new Ghouls will have a 10' x10' booth to display their goods and enchant you.
New this year are: Mary Calehuff Nodders, Enchanted Productions, Pine Hollow Primitives, Reddog's Pottery and Katherine Webber.
We asked each a few questions and created new pages to give you a little insight about them.

Katherine Webber is no stranger to Halloween shows. She has been selling her work on the West coast for many years in shows and galleries. Katherine will be traveling all the way from Washington state with her original paper-mache sculptures. Her ability to capture both the whimsical AND the scary side of Halloween is amazing.

We've been planning and organizing for months for the upcoming show. Things are falling into place and we'd like to share some of the exciting details.

As you know, we have expanded our event to a two-day affair. For the past four years we've heard from customers saying one day just isn't enough to see it all.

Friday, September 30th

Evening Early Buy

Doors open at 6pm and close at 9pm.

This will be an evening of pure magic!
Admission is $20 at the gate. Early ticket purchase will begin at 2pm on Friday and we are not limiting the number of guests who can attend.
By joining us for the Evening Early Buy you will have first choice of what the artists have scared up for this year's show.
You will receive a Ghoultide Gathering tote (while supplies last) and also have free access to the show on Saturday.
There will be live music outside to entertain you and a tasty food booth open in the afternoon for those of you lining up early.
Once inside enjoy a complimentary beverage in the Cady Inn and various treats at the artists' tables.

Saturday, October 1st
Doors open at 10am and close at 2pm.
Admission is $5 at the gate.
Many of the artists will be restocking their displays and offering new pieces not shown on Friday evening. You won't want to miss it!

Food and beverages will be available for purchase on site during the shows Friday and Saturday.

The Word is Spreading
Fall publications are beginning to show up on newsstands and Ghoultide Gathering is in the spotlight once again.

A Primitive Place magazine has included a six-page feature about our spooktacular event. Photos of artists' work give readers ideas on incorporating Halloween art into their fall decor.

Midwest Living magazine was kind enough to send a photographer out to our show last year. They will be using several images from that shoot in a full page writeup of the event.

We have a fabulous two-page ad in Art Doll Quarterly showcasing just a few or the talented artists participating in the 5th annual show. Also look for our ads in Country Sampler, FOLK and Country Register in MI and OH.

Several Ghoultide Gathering artists will be featured individually in publications this fall as well. Keep an eye on the newsstands for more exciting word about our one-of-a-kind Halloween Artist Spectacular!

Making Plans

Plans are well under way for our 5th annual Ghoultide Gathering in Northville. Hard to believe time has gone by so quickly and that our little midwest show has garnered so much attention in a short time. Well I guess it shouldn't be such a surprise considering all the talented artists who participate each year.

With the growing popularity of Ghoultide, we have decided to add an extra day. Now there will be two spooktacular days of shopping and visiting with your favorite artists and friends.

Ghoultide “rains” supreme

No drips, drizzle, sprinkling, or rain, could dampen the spirit at the 4th annual Ghoultide Gathering.

Record crowds attended this year and shoppers were overwhelmed by the quality and variety of the artists' work.

Thank you to everyone who traveled from across country and all those willing to stand in line so early in the morning, and throughout the day. You helped make our Halloween Artist Spectacular the best ever!

All the attention Ghoultide Gathering and the participating artists are getting is reason to “Celebrate!”

The Halloween issue of Phyllis Hoffman Celebrate features a four-page spread about Ghoultide Gathering with images from several artists and information about our event. The issue is due out September 21st.

Connie Porcher, editor of Celebrate 365, has generously included several Ghoultide artists in her magazine. Connie will be attending Ghoultide and bringing issues of her magazine.

Also attending Ghoultide is editor, Jeanmarie Andrews of Early American Life Magazine. Jeanmarie will share back issues of the holiday directory that also features several Ghoultide artists.

Laurie Hardin, of Monkey-Cats Studio, will be traveling from Nebraska to take part in our event. She'll be bringing her fun and whimsical folk figures and paintings.

Yes, Even More Ghouls in Print

This has been a great year of publicity for the artists participating in Ghoultide Gathering, and it isn't over yet. Here are a few new additions to the list.

Better Homes and Gardens Holiday Crafts is on newsstands now and features a sweet Santa mouse by Pam Gracia of Soft In The Head, and a project to make snowman ornaments by Johanna Parker.

Prims magazine is due out in early October. We're excited for Pam Gracia who will have several pages featuring her wonderful characters. In that same issue, Johanna Parker will have and a witch candy container to spook you.

The Early American Life 2010 Holiday Directory of Traditional American Crafts is about to hit the newsstands and several Ghoultide artists are represented. Congratulations to Jerry & Darla Arnold, who have several cotton batting ornaments shown, Ed Pribyl has two carved pieces featured, Stepanie & Vaughn Rawson are in again with one of their Santas, and Scott Smith has the only Halloween piece featured in this year's issue. Lori Ann Corelis is listed as one of the top holiday artists in the directory as well.

Looks like the Ghoultide artists have been busy. They are starting to pop up in magazines all over newsstands.

The fall issue of Studios magazine has just come out and we’re excited to have eight of our talented artisans represented in the issue. On pages 114 -121, you’ll get a glimpse inside the studios of Debra Schoch, William Bezek, Johanna Parker, Ed Pribyl, Vergie Lightfoot, Sheila Bentley and Scott Smith as they prepare for Ghoultide Gathering in October.

In this same issue you’ll get a special five-page treat from Lori Ann Corelis. She takes you into her charming studio and shares a little about how she works. In addition to her feature in Studios, you can see more of Lori Ann’s work in the fall issue

of Art Doll Quarterly magazine.

Even though summer is still in full swing, fall magazines are beginning to show up in mail boxes and newsstands. This year many of the artists participating in Ghoultide Gathering will be gracing the pages of some pretty impressive publications.

Our first shout out for Ghouls in print goes to Pat Murphy of Murphy Bears. Pat and her studio filled with cuddly mohair bears and vintage inspirations are featured in 6 pages of the fall issue of Where Women Create. Murphy Bears has been with Ghoultide Gathering since the beginning and we are so happy Pat is getting some well deserved attention.

Way to go Pat! We're all looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us at this year's show.

This year's event is promising to be more excited than ever. National magazines and local newspapers have been spreading the word about this spirited show.

Fall is in the air here in Michigan and will serve as the perfect setting for our 3rd annual show.

If you are traveling from out of state and needing overnight accommodations, please contact the Hampton Inn at Northville. It is conveniently located to our show site, Mill Race Village.

Please note that at the show, we do not allow photos inside the buildings. Strollers would need to be parked outside as space is limited. For your convenience a PortaJohn will be located in the parking lot for guests.
